With my recent experience, this was not a coma. I simply passed out. I lay there in the dark for 5 minutes before waking up again. Leah was sitting up next to me, watching me. When I'd opened my eyes, she yelled, "Daniel!"
I laughed. "Hey, Leah."
"Danny..." Leah said, sighing.
"What's wrong, babe?" I asked.
"I-i...I'm moving." she replied, tears spilling over.
I sat up. I put one arm around her and held her for a minute. "It's gonna be okay, Leah. Alright? I love you. Baby, don't cry."
She cried more, soaking my shirt. I had an idea. "Lei?" I asked, calling her by her nickname.
She didn't even look at me. I continued. "Would you feel better if I kissed you?"
She still didn't look at me. But she nodded. I kissed her cheek. I wiped her tears. "Leah, please. Don't cry."
Soon, we lay on her bed, staring at the ceiling again. I had my arms around her, holding her close. She'd stopped crying, but she was tired. "Wanna take a nap, Leah?" I asked.
She nodded. "Alright." I whispered.
I gently rubbed her arm, trying to help her fall asleep. I guess it worked, because a few minutes later, she was asleep. I sat and watched her. It was the first time I'd seen her sleep since I was in the hospital. She was finally getting some well deserved sleep. Good for her.
I decided I would try and sleep too. If I couldn't, I'd lay awake next to Leah. The soft sound of her breathing slowly lulled me to sleep. I felt too awake to sleep, but I did anyway. Leah would be awake soon.
When I woke up an hour later, Leah was standing in the corner of her room. Sleepiness hung over me like a curtain, trying to pull me back under. I fought to stay awake. I looked at Leah. "Leah?"
"Hmm?" she replied.
"What are you doing over there?" I asked.
"I....I don't know." she said plainly.
I stared at her. She walked toward me. I rolled over onto my side. Leah sat on the bed. "How did I get over there?"
